In today’s fast-paced world, Android apps have become essential tools for maximizing the potential of our smartphones. The Google Play Store offers apps to meet every need, but with so many options available, finding the best Android apps can be challenging. To help you navigate the app marketplace, I’ve compiled a list of the top 10 must-have Android apps that will elevate your smartphone experience. I’ve personally used each of these apps and found them extremely useful.
Table of Contents
1: N Dial
N Dial is a dialer app with a super clean, Nothing OS-inspired interface. Upon opening the app, you’ll see three tabs at the bottom, allowing you to switch between pages: a Contacts page, a dialer menu for typing in phone numbers, and a Favorites section for saving your favorite contacts. The app features a red accent color and a dot matrix-style font, similar to the aesthetic of the Nothing Phone.
These best apps feel like they’re part of Nothing OS. Interestingly, I’m learning to use Nothing OS without actually using it.
It’s a straightforward app, making it a perfect start as app number one in this list of best apps.

2: Custom Screen Rotation Control
This app allows you to customize your system-wide screen rotation settings easily. If you go to the Apps home screen and click on Device Rotation, you can force any orientation you want: landscape, reverse landscape, force right, force left, or even force auto-rotate. There’s also an app rotation section, enabling you to customize settings app-by-app, making it one of the best apps for screen rotation control.
So, if you want a specific app to open in landscape or portrait mode—or auto-rotate while keeping some apps from auto-rotating—you can fully customize it within this app. I know many people who constantly switch between automatic rotation, rotation lock, and always-on modes.
It may not work for many. But this option is available in the control settings of many phones.

3: DisMail: Temporary Emails
Dismail reduces all the clutter and spam in your inbox by giving you a temporary email. So if you ever need to sign up for a website, jump inside this app, it will give you a temporary email and you can access the inbox right inside the app. On the home screen, it will automatically give you a new email, but you can scroll down and manually slide the Slide for Email slider and it will create a whole new email.
So you can have unlimited email addresses and sign up for different types of accounts to get freebies and promotions. You can also create a custom email address in this app. So if you want something specific, you can do it.
There’s also a history log so you can see the different email addresses you’ve created because they’re confusing and random. So you have no chance to remember them.

4: Pixel Screenshot
Pixel Screenshots app. This was an exclusive app for the new Pixel devices, but it has been ported and you can download an APK online to sideload it to your device and it works pretty well. You don’t have AI features, but overall it’s a well-designed app by Google. It organizes all your screenshots and makes them searchable.
So if there is something specific that you want to search for, you can go ahead and find it right inside this app. Handy for finding old screenshots you don’t remember. It just saves you all the hassle of scrolling through your gallery.
However, there are some requirements: this app will not work without Android 14.

5: Weather Master
Weather Master is a comprehensive weather app that combines the best features of the old-style Pixel Weather app with the new one, and offers additional functionalities.
In addition to providing all the standard weather information, Weather Master boasts a visually appealing design with customizable colors, fonts, and animations that change based on weather conditions.
The app offers a wealth of information, including detailed weather data from the new Google Weather app, such as humidity, pressure, wind speed, visibility, air quality, UV index, and even clothing recommendations based on the perceived temperature.
While Weather Master is not available on the Play Store, you can download it from the APK link below. If you’re looking for a feature-rich and visually appealing weather app, Weather Master is worth considering.

6: Link Manager
Link Manager is an app designed to help you organize all your links and URLs in one place. It allows you to group them by folders, creating new tabs for each folder. When saving a new link, you can add a note and a title to provide context and remember what the link is for. This simple app makes it easy to store and organize all your ideas in one place.
Additionally, Link Manager includes a section for bulk link deletion. If you have a group of links related to a specific project or task, you can easily select them all or even an entire folder and delete them at once.

7: Shake It
Shake It is an app that allows you to trigger actions or open apps by shaking your device. Within the app, you can choose between a chop motion or a device rotation motion and assign a specific action or app to each. This simple but useful app can be particularly handy for tasks like turning on your flashlight in the dark or quickly opening your camera.

8: Playback: Background Play
Playback allows you to continue playing audio and video in the background, even after exiting media streaming applications like YouTube, Spotify, or websites. Within the app, you can watch YouTube videos, Instagram reels, and Facebook videos in a picture-in-picture window. When you exit the app, the video will continue playing in a small pop-up window. You also have the option to listen to only the audio without the video.
The app includes a search bar, allowing you to play any media from any website. One of the most convenient features is the ability to lock your device while listening to podcasts or other audio content on YouTube. If you frequently use media streaming services and want to enjoy background playback, Playback is worth checking out.
9: ProCCD - Digital Film Camera
Pro CCD is a camera application that simulates film or Polaroid-style shots directly on your smartphone. It offers both photo and video modes and allows you to fully customize manual camera settings, as well as adjust the distortion and graininess of your shots.
For those who enjoy the vintage aesthetic, Pro CCD is a great way to capture photos straight from your phone that look like they were shot on film. You can add color distortion, and noise, and adjust the colors to achieve the desired vintage effect.
10: Notisave
Notisave is a useful app that keeps a history log of all notifications received on your device. If you accidentally dismiss an important notification or want to review it later, you can use Notisave to bring it back to the status bar and save it for later viewing.
