Samsung One UI 7.0 Everything New in One UI 7 Features
Samsung’s One UI 7 sets a new benchmark in smartphone user interfaces. I’ve tested other UIs like ColorOS, which left a strong impression, but Samsung’s effort with One UI 7 takes things two steps ahead. It’s clear that Samsung has worked hard to enhance every aspect, The dedication to improving user experience is clearly visible.
After installing the 4.7GB beta update, I noticed that almost every aspect of One UI 7 has been upgraded. From smoother navigation to improved features, it’s a significant leap forward for Samsung users. In this article, I’ll take you through everything that has changed and why One UI 7 might just be Samsung’s most impressive update yet.
On December 5, 2024, Samsung introduced the One UI 7 beta program, expanding it to nearly 50 countries. The Galaxy S24 series, including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and Galaxy S24 Ultra, are the initial devices to gain access to the beta, with plans to roll it out to additional eligible models in the future.

One UI 7 Look & Feel
The One UI 7 update is here, and it’s a significant one. At 4.7GB, this Android 15-based update brings not just security patches but a host of noticeable design and functionality improvements.
From the moment you install the update and begin exploring, you’ll notice a fresh, redesigned look. The icons have been revamped, and the overall look and feel is more modern and cohesive. Samsung has also introduced a major change by splitting quick settings and notifications into two distinct sections—quick settings on the right and notifications on the left—making the interface cleaner and more intuitive.
Although some features are still missing in this beta release, they’re expected to arrive with a stable version. I’ll walk you through everything that’s new and exciting, including what to anticipate in future updates.
New Features One UI 7
One UI 7 introduces a range of thoughtful upgrades that enhance both functionality and aesthetics.
Large App Folders: You can now create large folders by simply long-pressing to enlarge them, making it easier to organize and access your apps.
Vertical Scrolling App Drawer: The app drawer now supports vertical scrolling, and you can also scroll alphabetically, offering a more streamlined navigation experience.
Enhanced Haptic Feedback: Scrolling through the interface feels more engaging with subtle, refined haptic feedback that enhances the tactile experience.
Search Bar Integration: A search bar located at the bottom of the app drawer makes it more user-friendly to locate apps quickly.
Smoother Animations
One UI 7’s UI animations have been significantly improved, making transitions and interactions feel smoother and more polished. These changes contribute to a premium user experience.
Samsung’s notifications (on the left) and quick settings (on the right) have been split in this update, providing a more intuitive layout. Additionally, you can customize them, so you can change them to match your preferences.
Recent Apps
The Recent Apps layout has also been revamped. Previously displayed side by side, apps are now stacked on top of each other, making it easier to see and manage background apps. You still have the option to close all apps with a tap, keeping the functionality simple but effective.
Live Notifications Feature
One of the standout features of One UI 7 is Live Notifications, which are reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Islands. This floating notification system is incredibly versatile. For example, if you set a timer or have music playing in the background, you can interact with it directly—play, pause, or manage other actions—all from a compact, stacked interface. These notifications are visible on both the home screen and the lock screen, allowing you to control key functions without unlocking your phone.
Lock screen features
Speaking of the lock screen, it now offers you extensive customization options. You can adjust the font, color, and text to match your style. You can even resize elements like the clock, making it as small or large as you like.
Camera app
The camera app has been redesigned to increase user-friendliness. Looking at the camera, it seems that many of the settings used to be at the top. But that’s not the case anymore. On the bottom side, you will get everything with a single touch. Be it settings, flash on, timer, etc. Not only that, if you are shooting a video, if you go to pro mode, you will be able to change all the pro settings with a single touch. So it has become much more user-friendly.
OneUI 7 Battery & Charging
Battery and charging have seen some changes in One UI 7. The feature has been redesigned.
For instance, you can now charge your device up to 80%, but earlier, this was a fixed limit, and you’d need to turn the feature off to charge beyond that. Now, you can customize the limit anywhere from 80% to 95%. You can set the maximum charging level you prefer.
When charging, new animations make the experience more engaging. Additionally, the “Now Bar” shows how much your phone has been charged, and you can see this clearly, even on the lock screen.
Another improvement is the battery percentage indicator, which is now placed inside a pill-shaped design at the top, making it easier to see the exact percentage.
Even the power-saving mode has more options now. For example, you can choose to limit the CPU speed to 70% to save battery. This will use less of your battery. This allows for greater customization to match your needs.
One UI 7 Security
The Nox security system has also been upgraded and is now called Nox Matrix. It not only covers your phone’s security but extends to all Samsung devices in the ecosystem, like your Samsung TV and watch. All security details are visible in the Nox Matrix interface, and you can easily check or change them.
The Nox network’s security has also improved. Open networks, which were once unsafe, will now be identified, and your device won’t connect to them. You can set maximum restrictions when sharing photos too. Metadata and identifiable details in the photos will be removed, ensuring your personal information stays on your device.
Unsafe links and automatic attachment downloads are blocked as well. Hyperlinks deemed unsafe can’t even be clicked.
Android 15’s default theft detection lock is now available. It allows you to lock your device offline or remotely if you forget it somewhere.
There are many more features, both major and minor. For example, if your PIN is compromised, the system will safeguard it.
OneUI 7 More Features
I really liked 2-3 more features. Quick Share has been improved significantly. For example, I used to use WeTransfer, but it is no longer necessary.
Another feature in Quick Share allows you to share your phone’s files with anyone in the world, regardless of location. Previously, you had to connect to the same Wi-Fi network to transfer files. If the person you were sharing with moved out of the network, the transfer would fail. Now, it seamlessly shifts to a mobile connection and completes the transfer. File sharing is also done using a QR code.
Simply scan it to connect and share. You can even set an expiry date for the file. For instance, if it isn’t downloaded within a day, it won’t be accessible later.
There’s also a new feature called AI Call Transcribe. This feature transcribes phone conversations into text, supports 20 languages, and identifies speakers as caller 1 and caller 2. You can click on the transcription to access the call record, and it works flawlessly!
The Game Booster Mode has seen improvements as well. You can now adjust performance levels depending on your needs. For example, if you want longer gameplay, you can conserve battery. You can also set Max FPS, adjust screen resolution, and turn off PD charging to optimize performance.
All of these features enhance the user experience in a meaningful way. As for the rollout, the Galaxy S25 series will launch with One UI 7 out of the box in January. The rollout will begin with the Fold 6, Flip 6, and S24 series, followed by a phased release for other phones.
These updates make One UI 7 an exciting release. If one UI brings such improvements, other brands will certainly need to step up their game. Features like these should be available across all brands’ devices.
My verdict on One UI 7
I like One UI 7. The previous UI was also great, but when the update came, it didn’t change much. Everyone liked the previous UI, just like I did. No one thought that One UI 7 would change so significantly. I think it has changed about 40%. I like it a lot.
Although technology is improving rapidly, this update was needed. Those who liked the various animation-type features of iPhone iOS have received the maximum benefit, and everyone seems to like it a lot. If two more updates come in 2025, the user experience will improve two to three times more.
I think the main thing Samsung has focused on here is the user experience, ensuring that a person can use Samsung’s UI very easily. For me, one of the highlights is the calling system. You can speak in different languages, which is a very good feature—or perhaps the best feature—because if a person is in Korea and another is in the USA, you will no longer need to learn the language to talk to them.
I think this feature will improve by the end of 2025, so communication will be even better. For those who play games, there are different features included in this update. It will provide great benefits to everyone by keeping the performance smooth. Overall, I especially liked One UI 7.
